WHY: Young children learn best when they become involoved in their learning. Participants will be immersed into a thematic unit which includes mathematics, science, creative expression, reading, writing, art, and music.
A different thematic unit will be explored each summer. This year's program will focus on the Rainforest. Other themes that have been offered are a Trip to Japan and Candlesticks, Cornered Hats, and Colonists - a Study of Colonial America.
WHO: Children are eligible to attend who have just completed kindergarten or first grade
WHEN: Four sessions are offered, each a week long. Participants may choose the week that is most convenient for them. Carpooling is encouraged.
The Kid Connection's coordinator and teacher is Beth Smalley. Assisting her are two highly qualified aides, Jill Ranly and Kim Skoczyn, who have experience working in early childhood classes.
Each elementary school will send home registration information in the spring. For more information, please call 419-586-6628 and ask for Linda or Janice.
