Opportunity School Options
Our mission at the Mercer County Opportunity School is to provide a student-centered, flexible, and caring non-traditional learning environment that creates the scaffolding to support the pillars for student success. Districts, who have students that need short or long term learning options, can access the options and be confident their students are provided a comprehensive curriculum that meets all of Ohio’s learning standards.
There are several ways to meet the unique learning needs of middle and high school students. Mercer County Educational Service Center partners with the following organizations to help districts explore what will promote success for individual students.
This includes access to online and blended learning courses through Pearson Connexus. Students can work independently with supports from educators through NOVA or with supports from local educators.
Students, grades 9-12, who are credit deficient or are looking for an alternative learning environment. Coursework is provided in the classroom, through a blend of online and by independent study all under the guidance of a certified teacher. A workforce development program is available to qualified students who are matched to jobs in the community.
