What an amazing first day of SIOP training with Heidi Messbarger from Hamilton County ESC!
SIOP stands for Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol. It helps teachers make classroom content more accessible while building students’ language skills—especially for English learners—with strategies that benefit all students.
Our teachers were actively engaged, learning through hands-on experiences and exploring strategies to bring back to their classrooms. We’re already excited for day two next week!
What if your future career is being built right here in our area? More than 715 junior high students explored that possibility during the Grand Lake Regional ESC Business Advisory Council’s Manufacturing Month tours. A record number of students from seven area schools visited 10 local companies, discovering what’s made nearby and the many roles that help keep our local businesses thriving. Through facility tours and hands-on activities, students saw that manufacturing offers more than they can imagine, and that our local companies could be part of their future. A huge thank you to the businesses and community partners who opened their doors and helped students connect learning with real-world career possibilities (and we are grateful for the beautiful fall weather, too)!

A big thank you to Foundations and the Mercer County Prevention Coalition for hosting the Harvesting Hope Fall Festival in celebration of Red Ribbon Week on Saturday! It was a pleasure to represent Grand Lake Regional ESC and connect with families during this fun, activity-filled day!
