The staff at the ESC is so fortunate to have our office located right next to the lake. During the warmer months, we enjoy seeing seagulls, pelicans, geese, ducks, and—if we’re lucky—bald eagles!

June 20th is National Bald Eagle Day, so we thought we’d share a few fun facts:

🦅 Bald eagles can have wingspans of 7–8 feet.
🦅 Only adult bald eagles have the iconic white head and tail feathers—several of the eagles pictured are not quite adults yet.
🦅 Bald eagles mate for life and have eyesight estimated to be 4–5 times sharper than humans.

Even better—all of the photos shared were taken by our ESC staff!

On Friday, local school administrators stepped outside of their buildings and into the community to learn more about the programs, services, and partnerships available to support student and family wellness in Mercer County.

Through conversations with local agencies and community partners, administrators gained a deeper understanding of the resources available to help remove barriers and strengthen connections. This collaborative experience highlighted the incredible network of organizations working together to ensure students and families have access to the support they need to thrive.

Thank you to our community partners for sharing your expertise, your passion, and your commitment to Mercer County families! Together, we continue to build stronger connections between schools and the community we serve.

What is Flag Day? Flag Day, celebrated on June 14, commemorates the Second Continental Congress adopting the Stars and Stripes as the official U.S. flag on June 14, 1777. While observed locally in the late 19th century, it was officially established by President Woodrow Wilson’s proclamation in 1916 and signed into law by President Harry Truman in 1949.
