Qualifications/Licenses:
- LISW, LSW are preferred
- Bachelor of Social Work is also preferred
- Bachelor in Education with the commitment/ability to obtain social work licensure.
- K-12 Education work background is preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensure the safety of students
- Assistance in the identification of those children who are being abused and or neglected and contracting of the needed community resources in providing service to the child and family.
- Provide casework services to students and or their parents on an individual basis. This includes home visitation.
- Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, (student information).
- Provide information about a particular student or problem situation to help improve a teacher-pupil relationship.
- Consult with community learning center and school district personnel in an examination of symptoms and causes of pupil problems in the school setting.
- Consult with other special services personnel to develop and coordinate an overall treatment approach for students or groups of students.
- Evaluate problems that have been referred, the progress that has been made, and the next steps to be taken with a teacher or other school personnel at appropriate intervals.
- Act as a liaison with community agencies to facilitate services for those students and their families needing specialized help.
- Seek, coordinate, write, implement, and monitor grants related to social services for students.
- Represent the district at local, state, and regional activities/committees upon the request of the superintendent.
- Communicate with the public, the board, and staff on school improvement efforts.
- Recommend needed changes in policy when appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Special Education Supervisor or Superintendent.
